Prince Harry feels a lot of support from the British public

Posted by p0uritup

In an interview with The Guardian (via Daily Mail), Prince Harry reveals feels a lot of support from the British public

“I feel a lot of support from the British public. Even now, when I feel like I have been destroyed by certain members of the British press. It serves them to think that the British public feels the same way about me as they do. But I don’t feel that and I don’t see that. For as long as I have known, certain elements of the British press have tried to speak on behalf of the nation. I think they are out of touch with the nation on lots of things.

He adds: “It is only in certain elements of the press where you see this talk about me being down or saying I am not smiling. This comes from people who think they know what I am thinking and how I am feeling. They are wrong. I think parts of the British press want to believe that I am miserable, but I’m not. I am very happy with who I am and I like the life that I live.”.

He also reveals that he doesn't think he " aired my dirty laundry in public" with the Oprah interview, the book Spare and the TV series.

“I know that [speaking out] annoys some people and it goes against the narrative. The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.”

He adds: “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.” “It is not about revenge, it is about accountability,” he says.

Cozy Autumn Moodboard: What's on Yours? (ONTD Original)

Posted by rabbitofalice

Collage de fotos moodboard de contenido (1).png

And all at once, summer collapsed into fall

— Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

🍂 The autumn is already here, either according to the calendar or the weather outside.
It's a rather cold, rainy season, and while all your favorite influencers are already filling their posts with affiliate links to your autumn capsule wardrobe or the perfect red-wine lipstick while sipping on their pumpkin spice latte, I want to invite you to share your favorite ways to make the transition from summer to autumn more cozier.
What are you listening to or watching that instantly gives you comforting autumn vibes?
- book
- album/song
- tv series/movie
- drink/snack/food
- anything else you can think of that sets the mood

1. The Secret History by Donna Tartt
I know the book is considered pretentious here and elsewhere, but but the mood comes through on every page and it's the perfect segue for anyone who still associates September with the academic year, even if they're no longer a student.

2. I'm a sad girl to Ritchie Raleigh's sad boy, so the album Andy was right up my street.

3. Gilmore Girls (with all the studying and coffee), Last Night (the 2010 movie) and Interview with the Vampire (TV Series, ofc). Last two show off gorgeous coats for autumn wardrobe inspiration.

4. I like to drink hot cacao in the cold evening.

This post is a follow-up to a comment I made in a roundup where I already got a few great answers, but I wanted to make it into its own post so everyone, including those who replied before, can join in.

AKA Charlie Sheen documentary premieres on Netflix

Posted by a_files06

-With seven hard-fought years of sobriety behind him, Charlie Sheen — as you’ve never seen him — finally leaves it all on the table, and revisits the very public peaks and valleys of his life with humor, heart, and jaw-dropping candor.

-Tabloid black hole Charlie Sheen knows what’s been said about him, and he’s finally ready to confess. Directed by Andrew Renzi (Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?), aka Charlie Sheen tracks his upbringing in Malibu to his effortless rise to megastardom — and dramatic fall, all within the public eye. With a stunning clarity earned through seven years of sobriety, Sheen openly speaks about the subjects and events he's never discussed publicly before. Through extraordinarily candid interviews with his family, friends, and cast members, including Denise Richards, Heidi Fleiss, Jon Cryer, Sean Penn, Ramon Estevez, Brooke Mueller, Chris Tucker, and his drug dealer Marco, the most outrageous moments of Sheen’s life are revisited with raw emotion and exceptional warmth, painting a portrait of a flawed man whose penchant for self-destruction is ultimately no match for the ferocious love and forgiveness he inspires in those closest to him.

-The people in Charlies life do not hold back, especially Denise Richards who wanted to ensure that it wasnt a fluff piece and calls out CBS for paying Sheen $2mill/episode for 2halfmen when he was a hot mess.

Ghost Daddies: A Post

Posted by anterrabre

Ghost Daddy (“gohst dædi”) A man from the days of yore that is dead, but is indisputably hot and bangable.

Have you ever consumed media about someone long dead and thought “Damn, he’s delicious and I want that man?" Well, this is the post for you! Ghost Daddies might be gone but they are far from being forgotten, and with the Internet and streaming services many have found new audiences. Today we're going to look at some Famous Ghost Daddies of stage, screen, and other creative fields.

marlon.jpg

Paul Newman

paul.jpg

One of the OG Ghost Daddies. Accept no imitators.

From his breakthrough film in Hollywood (Somebody up there Likes Me, 1956) onwards, Newman has made generations of women quiver. His performance in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with Elizabeth Taylor cemented his heartthrob status, and awards include several Oscar nominations and other accolades. Making him even sexier, Newman's devotion to wife and partner Joanne Woodward was well-documented for 50 years until her death, and was couple goals to a lot of people. His other titles include film director, race-car driver, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, and he formed the First Artist Production Company with Barbara Streisand and Harry Belefonte so actors could secure properties and develop movie projects for themselves, which was extremely progressive in 1969. Although he is no longer with us, streaming services like TMC and Criterion have made his work accessible for younger generations to appreciate his beauty.

Harry Belefonte

harry.jpg

A Daddy by any other name is still hot.

This triple threat was a singer, actor, and activist who made Calypso music popular with international audiences in the 1950s and 60s. He first burst onto the scene in the movie "Carmen Jones" with the equally sexy Dorothy Dandridge (and made getting choked the fuck out look extremely hot) and made waves from there. His breakthrough album "Calypso" was the first album in the world to sell over one million copies in a year. In addition to all of this, he was a close advisor to Martin Luther King Jr. and was responsible for the famine relief single "We Are The World" which is the eight best selling single of all time; we love a Ghost Daddy with a social conscience!

Sessue Hayakawa

sessue.jpg

While looking at pictures of this man my clothes fell off. Seduce me with your eyes, sweet Daddy.

We're going to go all the way back to the Greatest Generation for our next Ghost Daddy. Sessue Hayakawa (born Kintarō Hayakawa) was a popular star and matinée idol in Hollywood during the silent film era of the 1910s and early 1920s. Hayakawa was the first Asian actor to achieve stardom as a leading man in the United States and Europe and drove all the girlies wild with his good looks, charismatic personality, and a generous amount of eye-fucking. He was also coded as a "Dom" (which made the girlies quiver more) and made certain folks big mad because they couldn't handle the fact that this hot ass Asian man was literally making American women go crazy, and he was one of the highest paid stars of the time. He left Hollywood for many years because of rising anti Japanese sentiment but later returned, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Colonel Saito in "The Bridge on the River Kwai." Three of his films (The Cheat, The Dragon Painter, and The Bridge on the River Kwai) are in the United States National Film Registry, so check him out if you haven't already.

Freddie Prinze Sr.

freddie.jpg

The Sweet Daddy still in our hearts that left us much too soon.

POC in the 70s didn't have a lot of representation; we basically watched Soul Train, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and Chico and the Man. While Freddie was Puerto Rican there was true solidarity back then; if it starred any POC you watched it regardless. Everyone loved Scatman Caruthers, and Willy Wonka did a LOT of heavy lifting and goodwill for Jack Albertson so he was like everyone's Pop Pop, but the undisputed star of the show was Freddie Prinze Sr. which was no surprise because he was seriously hot. Whenever he smiled, it was like the sun coming out on a cloudy day, and he just had an easy breezy way about him that everyone loved, including Pam Grier, Raquel Welch, and Lonette McKee (all whom had a relationship with him at some point). To top it all off, he was funny as hell and was the first young comedian Johnny Carson had on his show. Unfortunately, being on the cusp of stardom could not save him from himself, and my grandmother (who loved him because of the whole Pam Grier thing) had the unenviable task of explaining suicide to a 7 year old. To this day it make me sad because it was a huge loss; he was so talented, and just seeing someone like him on TV back then was a HUGE deal. Gone much too soon...but never forgotten.

Ghost Daddies can come from all walks of life. Here are my personal two non-celeb faves:

László Moholy-Nagy

moholynagy.jpg

Can you give Tamera Tokens™ to dead people? Asking for a friend!

I first learned about Moholy-Nagy in grad school, and it was like a light switched on in my brain. One of the Masters of the Bauhaus, he was a true visionary in design and photography and created techniques with Photograms, Photomontage, Photography, and Graphic Design that are still used today. He would also be considered "woke" by today's standards because unlike the other Bauhaus masters at the school who shunted women into the weaving workshops, Moholy-Nagy thought that art and design was for everyone and happily welcomed women in his metal workshop (a discipline that women was barred from) to study under his tutelage. He kept this philosophy despite having his work featured in Hitler's "Degenerate Art" exhibition and being forced out of Germany because of the political climate. Moholy-Nagy ended up in Chicago, where he started the Institute of Design (later becoming part of what is now the Illinois Institute of Technology) and happily welcomed returning GIs and marginalized students after WWII. He didn't give a damn who you were or what you looked like, if you had an interest in art and design and had raw talent he wanted to teach you. His books Painting, Photography, Film (1927) and Vision In Motion (1947) were life-changing for me, and by "life changing" I mean I could literally feel my brain expanding into new creative directions while reading them, and they are still relevant today. Quite frankly, I don't know if I want him to fuck me like animal Nine Inch Nails style, or sit at his feet like he's Jesus and learn from him. Sadly, his life was cut short at age 51 from leukemia, but his contributions to art and photography are still with us.

Georg Olden

georg.jpg

This one is self-explanatory, because...I mean, look at him. Damn.

Some people walked the hard walk so that future generations would be able to fly. This Ghost Daddy harkens back to the Golden Age of Advertising (Think Mad Men era, but make it Black). Olden was respected not only for helping to usher TV from a fledgling industry into a golden age, but also for serving as a model for Black America. I first featured Olden in my Black Dandies post but wanna talk about him again because he's just that fabulous. A pioneer in the field of broadcast graphics, he supervised the identities of programs such as I Love Lucy, Lassie and Gunsmoke, and collaborated with the popular artists and designers of that time, including David Stone Martin, Ed Benguiat, Alex Steinweiss and Bob Gill. He also designed the Clio Award in 1962, and ended up winning seven of them by 1970. Sure, the way he died was completely whack (not to mention sus) but once again, here is another man that I don't know whether I want him to haul my ashes, or sit at his feet like he's Sensei and learn from him. Either way, he has a legacy of both professional and creative accomplishments that still inspires designers today.

Have at it, ONTD. Who are your favorite Ghost Daddies, and why? Not just actors; artists, authors, sports figures, scientists, and others are all welcome, the only criteria is that they be public-facing (in other words, no "My professor was hot but he died."). Also, please realize that attraction is subjective, so don't come in here yukking people's yums. Post plenty of pictures, and have fun!

Weekend Box Office: 'Demon Slayer' Kills the Box Office with $70 Million

Posted by scriptedending

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle was predicted to win the weekend, but it absolutely destroyed estimates with a $70 million take. This is the biggest box office haul for an anime film by more than double, besting 1999’s Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back, and Sony's biggest opening domestically in over two years. The film has already made more than $300 million internationally.

Dropping a staggering 69% in its second weekend, The Conjuring: Last Rites was still good for second place at the box office with $26.1 million, bringing its domestic total to $131 million overall.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale brought in $18.1 million, which is more than the opening weekend for the last installment in the series in 2022. The majority of the audience was older white women, and counterprogramming for that demo was nonexistent.

In fourth place was Lionsgate's The Long Walk, which opened to $11.5 million on a fairly lean $20 million budget. This Stephen King adaptation did much better box office than the one from earlier this year, The Life of Chuck, which made less than $10 million worldwide over its whole run.

Rounding out the top five was Disney's re-release of Toy Story, which made $3.5 million.

Other box office debuts included Spinal Tap: The End Continues with $1.7 million, and The History of Sound in four theaters with $85k.

The Chickens Win Again

Posted by grrm

Our adaptation of Howard Waldrop’s short story THE UGLY CHICKENS continues to kick ass and take names out on the film festival circuit.  Our latest win came back in March, at the Cinequest festival in San Jose.

We were not able to attend that one is person, but Cinequest was good enough to send us the award.

Howard wrote a helluva lot of great stories in his day — there was no one like him, and never will be — but “The Ugly Chickens” was probably the best known.   It won both the Nebula and the World Fantasy Award (a Hugo finalist as well, but that one escaped the chickens).   Our film adaptation was scripted by Michael Cassutt, directed by Mark Raso, and starred the amazing Felicia Day.

It’s still out on the circuit, so do check any upcoming film festival near you.   You may be lucky enough to catch s screening.

TikTok Roundup: Pilates Shouldn't Be Diverse, Knitting Drama, & Slutty Homecoming Dresses

Posted by frejasface

ontd tiktok roundup 2 copy.jpg

  • Pilates by Raven, aka Raven from Love is Blind, has a hot take on pilates. She says that it is not meant to be accessible, affordable, or diverse, since it is similar to a luxury brand such as Bottega Veneta.

  • Hank Green made a condescending, sexist video about how "physicists don't understand why knitting works." Female scientists and knitters are pissed, as he suggests that knitters, who are traditionally female, somehow do not understand the science of knitting.

  • A lot of adults are very worked up about slutty homecoming dresses! Some videos went viral criticizing a lot of girls' dresses for being too skimpy, then there was backlash against the backlash, and then a bunch of millenials started posting the awkward homecoming dresses they wore back in the day.

  • According to an influencer named Toya Oracle, if you are thinner than them, you are an oppressor and you owe them reparations. If you are lighter-skinned than them, you are colorist and their oppressor and you owe them reparations. If you have more money than they do, you are their oppressor and you owe them reparations.

  • Why do wives post their husbands' shitty actions and then try to defend them? One woman was running a marathon, but had to do so on an empty stomach because her husband ate all of her food during it, then laughed at her.

Another woman forgot her lunch and asked her husband to pack her something...and he included a can of dog food.

  • Do you need some secondhand gossip about someone else's love life? Wellll, Danielle Walter is a San Francisco-based influencer known for filming herself getting ready for first dates, then rarely going on second or third dates. She has been seeing a guy for one month...and is already convinced that he is her future husband. They met each other's parents just a few dates in, before they even became boyfriend and girlfriend. He is a Christian, Brazilian fitness guru. So, make of that what you will. He is pretty hot, though.

  • A creator named Bradley on a Budget, who teaches people how to live frugally, called his haters broke and bragged about having $400,000 in the bank and how it is more money than most of his followers will ever see. Some of his viewers were calling him gross for using a towel that he stapled together.

  • The Nice/Tunis girls are doing fine.

  • The oldest children of Jenny Doman, a family channel influencer called Down With The Domans, are speaking out against her for lying about them and their family repeatedly.

  • Police discovered a body in the trunk of an impounded Tesla belonging to TikTok-famous singer D4VD. He sang that viral, "I don't caaaaare how long it takes...." song that everyone was using a year or two ago. He also has a song called "Romantic Homicide." So.

  • The castle tunnel lady is back!

What's some drama that happened in your hobby?

Alternate question: What did your homecoming dress look like?

Snazzy Sunday Jams: Kali Uchis, Ravyn Lenae - Cry about it

    Posted by anterrabre

Good Morning, ONTD. Sometimes, all you need is a low key bop to get the blood flowing and the body moving. Today, we're jumping into the Wayback Machine to the time of sock hops, drive in theaters, hula hoops, and poodle skirts. The 50s were a vibe where girl groups absolutely ruled, so let's turn on the jukebox and jam to the throwback stylings of Kali Uchis.

    September is Suicide Prevention Month

    Subject: Re: PostSecret Help

I’d always wanted to write to you but never thought it’d be under such circumstances, ugh sorry. I’m secretly planning my death.

I realised I have depression this March. Since then I began taking some meds, and I was getting better this week. 2 nights ago, I went to a friend’s to pick up my earring I dropped the other night (he invited some friends to come over). I only had 1 drink then I got so drunk somehow. He fucked me. It hurt so much and I kept bleeding for a day. I feel extremely shame on myself since that night. I can’t even face myself, and the only thing I am thinking is to restart my life.

I couldn’t go to school today. I can’t function (a bit like my depression). I had a mental breakdown in the bathroom while taking a shower. I can’t tell my therapist (also a teacher and colleague of my mom’s from my primary school). I know it’s wrong so I went to the medical centre to find another therapist. But the registration takes a week to complete. I feel desperate. The memory keeps playing in my head.

    What a fucken life!!

    Regards,

    -Z

    From: “frank” <frank@postsecret.com>

    Subject: Re: PostSecret Help

    Hi Z-

This is one of the most difficult emails I have ever read. I can understand why you are in pain right now. I’m sorry that is is overwhelming right now. But I believe the fact that you took the time to share this with me indicates that part of you still wants to live.

Know this, at this exact moment, you are not alone with your heavy and suffocating feelings. I get postcards with confessions similar to yours every week, especially from young people who have suffered a traumatic experience through no fault of their own. It might not feel like it, but pain can dissipate, no matter how much it lies and tries to convince you otherwise. If your pain eventually lessened would you still want to kill yourself? Some of the secrets I receive say, I don’t want to die, I just want to pain to stop. I also get postcards from people who have found their way through the pain. They don’t say everything is great and life is painless now, but they are surprised that things can get better with time, medication, God, love, friends, music, therapy, family, a beloved pet, meditation, even endurance exercise (that’s what worked for me).

I hunted through the PostSecret archive to find two stories of people who have secrets related to the story you shared with me. Not everyone finds their way to survival and healing like these two courageous women, but it is possible. Over time there is a chance you will overcome. Give that chance time to happen, you owe it to that girl you were, and your future self. I hope that future self will mail me a postcard like one of these someday.

Maybe your depression is how you are expressing the righteous anger you must feel toward your attacker. Don’t let that rapist win. You are more important than your assailant. That is why I stopped everything I was doing to write you this message.

You wrote that your are having trouble finding a therapist. I totally believe you. Last night, I was speaking at a large university and a student told me she was waiting over a month for counseling. Another student said they were told by the campus counselor to find help off-campus. That sucks. It’s not fair, it happens to a lot of young people and it’s 100% not your fault. Here is a link to hundreds of crisis lines world-wide. Please use it and share it with others – in the future.

Here’s a link to a Harvard Study that found that nine out of ten people who attempt suicide and survive will not go on to die by suicide at a later date. This has been well-established in the suicidology literature and it’s a powerful fact to keep in mind. Nine out of ten people who felt just like you, desperate enough to kill themselves, if they were able to find their way through their worst night, got better and never made another attempt for the rest of their lives.

Can I ask you a question? Does anything still bring you joy in life? A pet, a sibling, a friend, a grandparent, a band, the beach, a book, Epic Universe, Othani in the pennant race, a forest walk, Taylor Swift’s next album?

I attached one last image to this email. It’s an picture of a young woman sending up a helium balloon of hope for a stranger who had mailed in a secret like yours. Because of one secret, over 60,000 strangers cared enough to create a “Please Don’t Jump” facebook page proving people do care and there is hope, even if your depression has convinced you otherwise – don’t believe it, depression and anxiety are liars.

A friend of mine – Kevin Hines – tried to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge to end his life. He is one of the ten or so people, from the thousands who have jumped off that bridge and died, to have survived. He travels the country sharing his inspiring story. It’s like his life was spared so that he can reveal the secret last thought of people who attempt suicide. He has shared his story with millions of people around the world. This is what he says, As soon as I let go of the cables and began to fall from the bridge, I realized I was making a mistake.

    Be well,

    -Frank

[After I shared the message above on facebook, I invited the PostSecret Community to, “share something you would have never experienced if you had completed suicide”. There were hundreds of heartfelt stories. Here are a handful. . . ]

    • Today my son received a beam initiative scholarship and a bassoon lesson with Lecolion Washington (LW plays the basson in The Lion King). I am so glad I decided to walk through the tunnel. There is a light at the end and it’s beautiful.

    • If I had killed myself almost 4 years ago, I would have never accepted myself as LGBT; I wouldn’t be as close with my parents; and I would have devastated my dog who adores me. Without me he would have probably been passed from owner to owner, not living the life of adventure I’ve given him.

I wouldn’t have experienced finding the right mix of medication to help me understand how my life should be!

    • The love of this good hearted man. Not too mention so many other things, like my current job where I get to help others.

    • Camping with my sister and our kids. Waking up at 6am and watching the sun rise over the mist on the lake.  I would have missed this and so much more.

    • I would’ve missed the chance to be with someone who sends me messages like this.

    • I never would have been able to help my sister get the help she needed if I gave up 2 years ago. My life isn’t perfect, but I am so thankful for how far I’ve come.

    • I mean, come on, we’ve all got to vote in 2020! And I agree, there’s always something good to look forward to… even if you don’t know what it is, yet!

    • I would’ve been gone before she arrived. Shes worth staying for.

    • Becoming a midwife and being the one to witness and welcome hundreds of new lives into the world.

    • In May of 2009 after my second combat tour I was found hanging from a tree branch. This photo was a month ago. Not a day goes by that I’m not happy, I know what could have been. Nothing, and I repeat nothing, is worth not being there for. I cherish every moment now because I know I chose to forfeit everyone of these and that I don’t deserve them. But I get them, and I will love every one of them.

    • I never would have gotten into medical school and had the honor of putting on this white coat and helping others. I never attempted but thought about it every day for a very long time. Took me until well into my adulthood to realize that there are downs, and then eventually ups again and if you check out early, you never get to see what your ups may have been.

    • I’ve still got too many people to piss off yet.

    • This guy. Oh! And my husband.

    the northern lights

    Getting to ride again.

    • Goodness . . . I’m sitting at the table trying not to sob as I read this, because I don’t want to have to explain it to the family . . . At 16 I contemplated it. The only thing that stopped me was I didn’t want my Mom to find me. If I would have went through with it, I wouldn’t have met the group of friends who got me started in allowing myself to show the goofy side only when I was with them, then at 30+ I wouldn’t have met the amazing people on f.b. who allowed me to be the silly, goofy, weird me, that most people in real life look at me funny when they see it because I’m always so serious. Thanks #PostSecret for making me emotional, but also challenging me to think of what I would have missed out on.

    • Just because you haven’t found your reason to live yet, it doesn’t mean you never will.

    Off The Table

    Posted by Frank

    Hi Frank –

I sent you this secret some time later in my college days. Then I sent you an update after a few years later as well – which is when I think my secret debuted on Sunday Secrets. I didn’t screenshot or save it. If you have a copy of that, that would be cool.

I wish I could say that the journey was as linear as youthful self once thought and that everything was rainbows and butterflies these days. Mental health seems to be more of journey than a destination. I did find a hella good therapist about four years ago who helped me realize that I was neurodivergent. What a difference that made on my perspective. We are slogging through some trauma work. The commitment to following through on this secret did take suicide off the table. The struggles have been many since then and the journey hasn’t been perfect. However, I’m still here and resilience has won the day. Thanks for giving people a place to launch things into the universe.

We are currently left with 1 more episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty. This season has been something. Anyway here are some more pictures of Lola in her Bazaar shoot.
